Harassment and Discrimination Lawsuit Update: UBS Resolves the Claim Brought by Former Trader
According to the former employee’s attorneys, UBS UBSG.S has resolved a lawsuit with a junior trader who claimed the Swiss bank handled a charge of rape and sexual assault made against her by senior colleagues improperly.
Legal counsel for the claimant at Farore Law stated, “UBS and Ms. A have reached a mutual resolution in relation to this matter, as a result of which Ms. A decided to withdraw her claim.”
UBS chose not to respond.
The claimant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, filed a claim in Britain for damages against the Swiss lender alleging that she was subjected to sexual harassment and sexism while working at the bank in London.
Additionally, she demanded compensation for the alleged mistreatment she purported to have experienced as a result of filing complaints and warning management and authorities about what she called an “offensive and degrading” working environment.
A person with firsthand knowledge of the situation said that as part of the settlement, a five-figure gift was made to the British whistleblower nonprofit Protect. The source added that all other information would stay private.
